Casting Call

Role: Bilingual Actor/Facilitator (Welsh/English)
Project: Cryptic Creatures of the Creuddyn
Location: Conwy Schools (various locations across Conwy County)
Deadline for Applications: 28th August

 Overview:

Puzzle Junction, in partnership with Conwy Council, is excited to be delivering an immersive and educational performance experience for primary schools across Conwy as part of the Cryptic Creatures of the Creuddyn schools project. We're seeking a bilingual (Welsh/English) professional actor/facilitator to take on the lead role of Elin y Cerrig – Guardian of the Limestone, guiding pupils through a unique, character-led learning journey.

Essential Requirements:

  • Fluent Welsh and English speaker (must be able to perform confidently in both languages)

  • Proven experience performing for and working with primary school children, ideally in schools or other educational settings

  • Experience in immersive and interactive performance, particularly where improvisation and audience participation are central

  • Ability to lead and facilitate learning through performance

  • Valid and up-to-date DBS check

  • Availability for the following dates:

    • Auditions: Week commencing 1st September

    • Rehearsals: During October (exact dates TBC)

    • Performances: Winter half term (full schedule to be confirmed)

 Role

About the Role – Elin y Cerrig:

  • Playing Age: 30–50 years

  • Character Summary: Elin y Cerrig is a wise and charismatic guardian of the limestone habitat of the Great Orme. She will lead school groups through an engaging and educational experience focusing on the rare invertebrates that inhabit the limestone terrain.

  • This is an immersive role requiring strong improvisational skills and the ability to remain fully in character while facilitating learning.

  • The performance sits between a workshop and a theatrical experience, aiming to educate while enchanting.
